Its day 2 of the PANS Unilag health week and the day is for Quiz and Debate. The event of the day was tagged Prof. Fola Tayo Quiz and debate competition. (Prof. Fola Tayo is a former dean of the faculty,1989-1995 and also one of the big bosses in the pharmacy profession)
The event started with an opening prayer by Churchill followed by the National anthems and pledge. The Opening remark was given by Dr. Akinleye (who represented the dean). He declared the health week open on behalf of the dean. Afterwards,the PANS president Comr. Emmanuel also gave his opening speech and welcomed pansites to the event. Also in attendance was the COMPSSA president,Comr. Ayo Agbaje
The Quiz covered different areas of pharmacy including pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutics and pharmacology. There were three groups which comprised a pansites from each level i.e four pansites in each group. The participants answered questions very well and at the end of the quiz competition, Team A and Team C had 65 points each and Team B had 60 points.There was a tie-breaker which was asked on general knowledge by the PANS Senate president,Abdaz (well, i just knew Japan had no military today,thanks to him) and Team C won the tie-breaker. Team C was the runner up, Team A the first runner up and Team B second runner up of the quiz competition.
The Debate competition followed immediately (after the first round of the quiz tho). The debate was in British Parliamentary style (omoh,e no easy o.make i no lie u). Its involves giving the speakers a topic whuch they werent told before and 15 minutes to prepare for it + 7 minutes to deliver the speech by the speakers. The topic for the debate was "This house beleives gender emancipation requires the end of monogamy a dominant social norm".
There were 2 teams with each representing the Government and Opposition. The government team comprised the prime minister,deputy prime minister ,and two members of government.(this team was to support the motion). The Opposition side comprised of the opposition leader,deputy opposition leader,and 2 members of opposition. Each speaker gave his/her speech with nice opinions and points (including the mans not hot moment,lol). If u know,u know.
The opposition team won the debate and prizes were given for best speaker and for the teams.
The prizes were presentes by Dr. Akinleye.
The event ended with a closing remark by the PANS President who encouraged pansite to be punctual for the symposium tomorrow as there was delay today because pansites arrived late. The closing prayer was gjven by the PANS vice president Comr. Uthman
Pansites please lets turn up early tomorrow abeg as dignitaries who ll be present are time cautious. We are PANS.
